Today, we\u2019re going to lift the veil on the secret behind it all: CNC turning.<\/p>\n<p style='margin-bottom:24px;color:#555555;font-size:16px;line-height:200%;text-indent:2em'><img decoding=\"async\" style='max-height:350px;max-width:80%;margin: 10px auto' src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/1781317130452_0.jpg\" alt=\"CNC\u8f66\u524a\u87ba\u7eb9\u7f16\u7a0b\u65b9\u6cd5_CNC\u8f66\u524a\u52a0\u5de5_CNC\u8f66\u524a\u539f\u7406\" \/><\/p>\n<p style='margin-bottom:24px;color:#555555;font-size:16px;line-height:200%;text-indent:2em'>What is CNC turning?<\/p>\n<p style='margin-bottom:24px;color:#555555;font-size:16px;line-height:200%;text-indent:2em'>If we regard manufacturing and machining as a form of artistic creation, then CNC turning is akin to \u201cmetal-based pottery\u201d.<\/p>\n<p style='margin-bottom:24px;color:#555555;font-size:16px;line-height:200%;text-indent:2em'>Metal workpieces are clamped securely and firmly in place and rotated at extremely high speeds; meanwhile, sharp cutting tools\u2014much like our nimble fingers\u2014trace the contours of the workpiece, gradually removing excess metal to produce smooth and dimensionally precise cylinders, cones, threads and even spheres.<\/p>\n<p style='margin-bottom:24px;color:#555555;font-size:16px;line-height:200%;text-indent:2em'><img decoding=\"async\" style='max-height:350px;max-width:80%;margin: 10px auto' src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/1781317130452_1.jpg\" alt=\"CNC\u8f66\u524a\u52a0\u5de5_CNC\u8f66\u524a\u539f\u7406_CNC\u8f66\u524a\u87ba\u7eb9\u7f16\u7a0b\u65b9\u6cd5\" \/><\/p>\n<p style='margin-bottom:24px;color:#555555;font-size:16px;line-height:200%;text-indent:2em'>CNC turning has three key characteristics:<\/p>\n<p style='margin-bottom:24px;color:#555555;font-size:16px;line-height:200%;text-indent:2em'>However, CNC turning has significant limitations; as it is essentially a \u201crotational machining\u201d process, it is only capable of machining symmetrical shapes such as circles and cylinders<a style='color:#0000CC;font-size:16px' href='\/en\/1943\/' title='Rotating components' target='_blank'>Rotating components<\/a>Further processing is required; if the workpiece is irregularly shaped, other CNC processes must be employed to complement the process.<\/p>\n<p style='margin-bottom:24px;color:#555555;font-size:16px;line-height:200%;text-indent:2em'>Three key parameters<\/p>\n<p style='margin-bottom:24px;color:#555555;font-size:16px;line-height:200%;text-indent:2em'>To produce parts that meet specifications, three key parameters must be carefully controlled in CNC turning.<\/p>\n<p style='margin-bottom:24px;color:#555555;font-size:16px;line-height:200%;text-indent:2em'>1. Rotational speed: how fast the workpiece rotates<\/p>\n<p style='margin-bottom:24px;color:#555555;font-size:16px;line-height:200%;text-indent:2em'><img decoding=\"async\" style='max-height:350px;max-width:80%;margin: 10px auto' src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/1781317130452_2.jpg\" alt=\"CNC\u8f66\u524a\u539f\u7406_CNC\u8f66\u524a\u52a0\u5de5_CNC\u8f66\u524a\u87ba\u7eb9\u7f16\u7a0b\u65b9\u6cd5\" \/><\/p>\n<p style='margin-bottom:24px;color:#555555;font-size:16px;line-height:200%;text-indent:2em'>When raw materials are rotated, the speed must not be too fast, nor too slow. If the rotational speed is too high, the parts are prone to overheating and subsequent deformation. Conversely, if the speed is too low, machining efficiency drops significantly and the surface finish becomes rough.<\/p>\n<p style='margin-bottom:24px;color:#555555;font-size:16px;line-height:200%;text-indent:2em'>Adjustments are generally made according to the material and dimensions of the workpiece. For example, when machining aluminium alloy, the spindle speed can be set slightly higher, whereas when machining hard steel, the spindle speed should be set slightly lower.<\/p>\n<p style='margin-bottom:24px;color:#555555;font-size:16px;line-height:200%;text-indent:2em'>2. Feed rate: the \u201cspeed\u201d at which the tool moves\u201d<\/p>\n<p style='margin-bottom:24px;color:#555555;font-size:16px;line-height:200%;text-indent:2em'>The distance travelled by the cutting tool with each revolution is known as the feed rate. If the feed rate is too high, noticeable tool marks will appear on the surface of the workpiece. If the feed rate is too low, the machining speed will slow down, thereby affecting efficiency.<\/p>\n<p style='margin-bottom:24px;color:#555555;font-size:16px;line-height:200%;text-indent:2em'>3. Tool material: the \u201cscalpel\u201d of machining\u201d<\/p>\n<p style='margin-bottom:24px;color:#555555;font-size:16px;line-height:200%;text-indent:2em'>If the correct tool material is selected, the machining process will be both efficient and precise.
